Government’s decision not to move SPP forward

The Government of Nepal has decided not to pursue the United States State Partnership Program (SPP). At a press conference held at Singha Durbar on Tuesday to inform about the decision taken by the cabinet meeting, government spokesperson Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said that all government bodies have decided to make it mandatory through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs when writing letters on diplomatic relations. The cabinet meeting decided to declare Jaya Prithvi Bahadur Singh as a national hero of Nepal in recognition of his contribution to the development of Nepal’s education sector and recognition of Nepal to the world, said government spokesperson Karki. He said that the government has decided to suspend the executive chairman of the Nepal Airlines Corporation Yubaraj Adhikari as per Article 20 of the Nepal Airlines Corporation Act 2019 BS and move ahead with the investigation. The meeting also decided to allow use of national forest area for Kohalpur-Surkhet 132 kV transmission line project.
